In this series, painted during my twenties, I wanted to capture not just a person, but a feeling. This series is a tribute to the impermanence of youth, a nostalgic embrace of the emotions that defined my twenties, and a reminder of how time, though it moves forward, always leaves behind a trace of who we once were.
Liquorice depicts the resilience of a woman in her twenties. Named for the twisting strands of her braided hair, this portrait symbolises the strength and determination needed during this formative decade. The hair, rendered in my signature fluid, wavy brushstrokes, reflects the tenacity required to navigate the challenges and uncertainties of young adulthood.
