With this 8x20" (20x50cm) oil painting I play with simplicity and symmetry and the idea of minimalism, fused with a pop art sensibility, using a tantalising blue-green colour against a chequered background to enhance the object. It could be described is a quirky interpretation of an everyday vegetable, a “device" on which to explore colour and shape resulting in, hopefully, some warm amusement for the viewer.
