Summer Garden

Summer Garden is an original acrylic and wax crayon artwork painted on 300gsm hand-made, deckle-edged paper.

42cm x 20cm.

The painting captures the tangled yet beautiful confusion of a patch of garden flowers in summer. The unusual dimensions lend themselves to the depiction of a long garden border whose naturalistic planting includes pink frilly poppies, red poppies, huge alliums, verbena and jasmine set against the dark green background of an established hedge. There is just a small patch of blue sky showing, enough to provide a sense of scale and to draw your eye towards the open farmland that lies just out of sight beyond the garden. In the right of the painting is an obelisk that is almost completely engulfed by the foliage surrounding it.

It is approximately 42cm by 20cm and comes unmounted and unframed.
