Oil on canvas, 50 x 50 x 4 cm, framed 52 x 52 x 5cm.
Inspired by Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harman in the Queens Gambit. A strong woman defying all odds to become a chess prodigy. I am interested in capturing the strength of character in paint. A close-up of her face giving a slightly distorted angle and focussing on her piercing eyes. The paint has been applied with plenty of texture and allows layers of colours to show through.
The painting is framed with a simple slim black float/tray frame, with hanging fixtures on the back.
