Rusty objects embedded in plaster with iron display mount
28 x 35 x 4 cm
The idea for the piece came from a dream in which I made a plaster tablet with a central recess. I materialised the dream-vision in the studio the following day, and that evening, whilst prospecting for materials, I found five laughing gas canisters which coincidentally fit exactly within the recess. I love it when conscious and unconscious forces weave together in the process of art making.
The gathering and careful re-ordering of fragmented, buried objects into a new context is a metaphor for the process of finding forgotten or buried parts of myself and transforming them - through awareness - into something whole and visible.
This piece can be hung directly on the wall, or displayed on a hand-made metal stand (as pictured)
