“What originally felt like an absurd act of making paper-mache chairs, it led me to discover that it was a material used in the Victorian era to make furniture. I have since made benches for festivals, water fountains, and vases all in my chosen material of pulped paper. My bed for Saatchi is my largest sculptural piece to date and was inspired by escaping into social media accounts of beautiful homes whilst I sat in my basement flat in Stamford Hill that doesn't have a living room and needs black mould treatments every 6 months.”- Emmely Elgersma
