‘Spring Reds’ 2023

I made this painting after returning from a trip to Morocco. I bought Moroccan pigments and used these to make my own paint upon returning. In this painting I add the white collage as well, trying to increase the dynamic between my paintings. This piece also has two spaces, exploring this idea of depth and space within a canvas. “Spring Reds” was the name I decided to give it. This painting was made in an energised, positive time, where I wanted to reflect a connectedness with nature, the cycles and the sun, hence the play on the name: instead of “Winter Blues”, to call it “Spring Reds”.
