SOTA Marketplace is an affordable online gallery and social venture created by entrepreneur and curator, Emma Lang, to bring much needed change to the art industry. SOTA’s purpose is to democratise the arts by providing a fair and trustworthy platform for artists to sell their work and by selling genuinely affordable art.
Whilst online art galleries and art marketplaces of course exist, including ones that claim to be ‘affordable’, they charge sky high commission rates and listing fees, disempowering artists and do not sell genuinely ‘affordable’ art, isolating potential customers. Affordable art should not be exclusively for the top 1% or even 10% of society. This is where we come in.
How It Works
SOTA provides artists of all demographics and experiences a chance to sell their work and only charges an 8% commission upon the purchase of a piece. This low commission structure allows artists to sell their work at more reasonable price points compared to traditional art galleries, maximising their reach to potential customers. Customers can purchase the high-quality works of talented artists with the assurance that they are financially empowering them and changing lives. Artists must have an active website and Instagram to join.
SOTA actively looks for opportunities to accelerate the careers of its artists whether this be through sales, partnerships, exhibitions, auctions or gallery collaborations via our Art Consultancy arm.
