Icekeeper's Song belongs to my Water Mountains series, where landscapes emerge from the meeting of solidity and flow. The forms suggest ancient ridges shaped by time, somewhere between mountains and moving water, as though earth and currents were slowly exchanging roles.
I built the painting through layers of acrylic and natural sand, allowing denser passages to develop alongside softer, flowing gestures. Pale lines rise across darker depths, recalling snow tracing a mountainside or currents travelling beneath ice. The textured surface responds to changing light, revealing subtle variations in depth and movement as the viewer changes position. What interests me here is the way natural forces transform one another without necessarily overcoming them. Water returns to the same surfaces, gradually wearing away their resistance, while mountains hold the memory of everything that has shaped them.
For me, Icekeeper's Song is also an inner landscape, reflecting a form of resilience that develops through patience rather than force. I wanted to convey the quiet persistence of things that continue to change, even when they appear still. The painting invites a slower encounter, where small shifts in texture and light become part of its unfolding narrative.
