A kind of love I didn't choose to know

"I painted this recently and for a while i’ve contemplated what it means. Some times with my work, i’m not sure what the intention was until I look back later. I like to create intuitively and without the pressure of meaning, however I usually look back and have a moment of clarity about the things beneath the surface that were coming through during the process. I painted this 4 weeks after loosing my dad and now 2 months on I see what it meant. When huge life events happen, weather we like it or not we change, we transform and become someone new entirely. Our soul changes, our identity shifts and for a brief moment we are split between who we were and who we will become as a consequence. For me personally, with grief there has been a heaviness, but mostly there has been clarity. Clarity that we don’t get to choose every outcome, clarity that everything can shift in a second, and radical acceptance that life is constantly changing weather we like it or not.. and with that acceptance comes freedom & gratitude to always appreciate who we are right now, the people around us and the things we have. The painting is about our constantly shifting perceptions and if you can truly accept yourself through change, then that is worth celebrating."
