This photo was taken during my first trip to Spain after COVID to visit my family. Since I live in England and I’m Spanish, we went nearly seven months without being able to travel. You needed vaccine passports and a lot of paperwork, and at first I even had doubts about getting vaccinated. Once I was finally able to travel to Spain, the first thing I did was reach out to the two friends I usually work with on artistic photography. One of them came to visit me in my tiny hometown, Cambados. I wanted to capture something that reflected the tragedy and beauty of everything that had happened. By using reflections in the sea, I aimed to express the feeling that the world had turned upside down, which is also the title of this photo: The World Upside Down.
