Currents between us

I've often wondered how much of a relationship happens in the space between two people. Beyond words and gestures, there are quieter exchanges: the way someone's presence changes how we feel, the unspoken understanding, or the distance we sometimes need to remain ourselves.

These thoughts shaped Currents Between Us. Two flowing formations cross the circular canvas, moving in different directions yet appearing to respond to one another. A warmer light emerges between them, while smaller, darker marks suggest movements continuing beyond what we can see.

The imagery remains deliberately open. It might evoke water passing through a valley, clouds gathering over mountains, or an inner landscape shaped by emotion and memory. Nature gives me a visual language for experiences that are difficult to express directly. Layers of acrylic, mineral pigments and natural sand create subtle transitions alongside more tactile passages. Changing light reveals different details, adding another dimension to the dialogue between the two forms. For me, the painting is about the delicate balance between closeness and independence, and the invisible currents that continually shape our relationships.
