This vibrant oil painting of a hot pink bougainvillea in bloom, growing amongst monstera leaves is inspired by the contrasting colours of where I grew up. The streets of Harare are painted with bougainvillea or flamboyant flowers, set against a very reliable blue sky. I have always loved the leaves of the ‘Delicious Monster’, and their holes – as they remind me that even with imperfections, we can still grow, and even flourish.
