"Little Red Rising Wood" is a ceramic sculpture by Louise Hapton.
Behind this miniature sculpture, the artist wanted to raise awareness on grooming. What is Grooming? According to Google, it is the action of attempting to form a relationship with a child or young person to sexually assault or take advantage of them on a physical level. Louise had access to the internet very young - too young. Back in the late 2000s, social media was developing, and she was part of the first generation of children to use the internet. Back then and still today, parents had no idea what was going on on websites such as Google+ or Kik. The artist's first "boyfriend" met her when she was 10 and he was 16 on social media. They later met in real life when she was 15 and he was 21. At the time, Louise had no idea this relationship was abnormal. But today, reflecting on her first sexual experience, she believes she would've liked to lose her virginity another way.
