Sirvan

"Sirvan" is an oil pastel I made during my last days in London, inspired by the view from the windows in our studio flat in Dalston/ Stoke Newington. I loved that area and the fact that I could literally see the world just sitting at my desk by the window. The off licence on the opposite side of the street made a perfect backdrop for the beautiful humans that caught my eyes and that I wanted to depict and celebrate; like this stylish woman, seen from the back. For me it only takes few considerate details to make someone special: a Mac in an unusual color, a bright pair of coulotte, cool trainers. Add to this the uber colorful backdrop of a huge fruit stand and you got me! I like to celebrate the mundane and the beauty that surrounds us every day and London was perfect in that regard. I see these artworks as my ongoing (I keep making new ones from all the photos that I took while living there and on the following trips that i make almost once a year) love letter to the city.

Signed with my initials on the front and full signature at the back.
Fixed with 3 layers of fixative spray.

Unframed, cm 29,7 x 42 on paper.
