Echoes beneath

I often think about how the same experience can leave different traces in two people. We may share a place, a relationship or years of our lives, yet what each of us carries forward is never quite the same. We are changed together, but not identically. This thought stayed with me while painting Shaped by the Same Waters. Across the canvas, flowing forms suggest currents, ridges and eroded ground. Some follow one another, while others separate, gather weight or gradually dissolve. I wanted them to feel connected without losing their individuality.

Water became central to the painting, not as a literal subject, but as a force that slowly reshapes whatever it encounters. It moves around obstacles, carries material and leaves its traces behind. I find something deeply human in this continuous exchange.

Acrylic and natural sand give the surface a physical history of its own. Soft transitions meet denser, textured passages, where changing light reveals subtle variations in depth and movement. For me, the painting reflects how we continue to carry something of the people who have shaped our lives, even when our paths eventually diverge.
