Created using white limestone, brown hemetite and yellow sandstone gathered from Chios Island, Thought Buds Towards Radiance is part of the Field Notes collection, reflecting a quiet study of place.
Field Notes documents moments from the Greek island of Chios. Created during a two-week residency, each painting reflects my explorations of this little-known island, from the ancient presence of the mastic tree to the tranquil Aegean sea. My stay on the island gave me room to reconnect with nature and gently discover a new landscape. Field Notes invites us to remember our unity with one another, with the Earth, and with time. This collection urges us to pause and truly observe the world around us. Stand in wonder at the small things. Notice how the sea gently laps the shore, slowly wearing down pebbles and rocks with each tide, shaping them over centuries. Observe a tree’s shadow stretching across the ground, offering cool refuge to the insects and animals beneath. Watch the sun rise above the horizon, casting changing colours through the clouds. Each day brings a chance to recognise the beauty, resilience, and wonder of ourselves and the planet. Take that moment. Be gentle with yourself, with the world, and with one another. We are a tiny part of a vast universe, yet each of us is special.
