This work is part of the Flora of Resilience series.
It centers on the pineapple (Ananas comosus), a plant native to South America whose name derives from the Tupi word nanas, meaning “excellent fruit.” Widely cultivated in the region between southern Brazil and Paraguay, it carries layers of cultural and historical significance.
Introduced to Europe during the colonial period as "piña de Indes", the fruit became emblematic of both fascination and displacement - a symbol shaped by encounter, extraction, and reinterpretation.
Here, the botanical form is approached as a site of tension, where histories of admiration and erasure coexist. The work frames the pineapple as a structure of cultural persistence, holding within it traces of Indigenous knowledge and continuity.

Flora of Resilience is a series of limited edition prints that draws from Brazilian flora and its cultural, symbolic, and historical layers.
Developed through detailed ink drawings, the works originate in observational practice, while extending into an investigation of how botanical forms can operate as carriers of memory, identity, and collective experience.
Each piece establishes a dialogue between scientific attention and symbolic construction, where plants are approached not only as subjects, but as systems through which personal and cultural narratives become visible.
Produced in collaboration with a master printer, the editions are developed with a focus on material integrity, longevity, and sustainable processes.
