Inspired by my years in West Hollywood, this piece evokes for me a creative and exciting time of artistic exploration. There's a common type of apartment there that is 70s built, often with shag cream carpets that feel incongruous in the heat. And they always have vertical blinds that dapple in the Californian sun.
Weho is famous for its queer culture, particularly its worship of an ideal male physique. An intimate abstract figurative painting, this is my little ode to that part of the gay diaspora.
