From a series inspired by Frank O' Hara poetry. An ongoing project with my artist friend Shannon Milar. I remember taking this photo in 2022 in NYC. I think I first saw a beautiful lady across the street who was smiling and turning toward the direction she was looking to I saw this man. It struck me as very typical of what means being in a big city: you look at someone that you find interesting and they are looking at someone else. At first I wanted to take a photo of the lady to then make a drawing and then I realized I needed a snapshot of the man too, as the two were in some way related: at least in that she was smiling because she saw him. The two drawings represent my belief in the beauty that you can find around every corner, if you only keep an open mind, fresh eyes and you take the time to really look. All of this is especially true, at least for me, in big, charming cities, like New York.
