SOTA are proud to partner with esteemed Rolling Stones photographer, Gus Coral, to release some of the earliest and rarest photos of the iconic British band, shot before they were famous.
In the autumn of 1963, Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts, collectively known as The Rolling Stones, embarked on their first tour supporting The Everly Brothers, Bo Diddley, and Little Richard. This tour was crucial in propelling the band towards becoming one of the world's most successful musical acts. By the end of the 30-date tour, The Rolling Stones' first single, “Come On,” had reached number 21 on the UK chart. There are still very few photographs from this early period of The Rolling Stones.
Gus Coral, now 86, took a risk by capturing over 150 photographs of The Rolling Stones during their 1963 tour and studio sessions before they were famous. Originally intended for a documentary that was never completed, this collection includes images of The Rolling Stones performing at Cardiff's Odeon Theatre, in their dressing rooms, and during their recording session in Holborn, London.
