Refraction No.5

This series was created for real, using sunlight on very high end cameras and extremely high resolution output files are available for reproduction purposes. 

'Refraction No.1', Red, was selected for the Mrs Toolip Gallery International Art Contest, Barcelona 2023.

'Refraction No.4', Green, was selected for the ING Discerning Eye exhibition at The Mall Galleries and for the Society of Scottish Artist's 125th Annual Exhibition at The Maclaurin Art Gallery, Ayr, Scotland, both in late 2023.

An oblique transparent prism is centered against a red background with a beam of light entering from one side. The light disperses into a spectrum of rainbow colors that project onto the red surface, vividly illustrating the dispersion effect. This interaction between the light and the prism is clearly visible and striking, creating an interesting visual pattern. The overall image captures a scientific phenomenon while also conveying an artistic and thought-provoking ambiance.

The effect of refraction itself is to create a spectrum of color. ‘Refraction’ is defined as a change of direction as a result of a change of speed. A change of speed helps us re-evaluate what’s important and how we engage with our work, our community and our loved ones.
