West House Cottage 1 - Hand-made Paper

Original colour pencil artwork drawn by hand from life on thick hand-made paper of a cute cottage in a Kent village. I wanted to catch the comfortable homely feeling of village life - the tv was on! The early evening Spring light was beautifully soft. There were birds in the trees and there was smoke coming from the chimney.

The drawing, done with archival quality colour pencils was finished off in the studio. The thick hand-made paper was a joy to work on. To show the hand-made deckle edges it is best float mounted. The visible fibres, texture and pale brown flecked colour of the paper enhance the homely feel.
