Feeding the kids 40x50cm-framed in painted rustic wooden frame dusky pink
A Geisha feeding men to hungry baby birds was amusing to me. The parade of the geisha and indeed many performers mainly for the males' eye came to mind when I was researching subjects around debt bondage and modern-day slavery to the grind.
The goldfinch is present and symbolic of the holy mother and childbirth-this from its presence in many Renaissance paintings used to depict that subject. The goldfinch is thought also to represent 'bringer of light' as in Latin its name is derived from Lucinia. The Goldfinch also is represented as protector of diseases from the 12th century Honorius of Antun and its mythical bird the Chalandrius which recognized disease in humans. The markings on its face in mythology is said to come from the blood of Jesus from the thorn it stole from his crown.
So massive leap forward I'm reclaiming it and using it this way in retribution and taking back the narrative
