This study was an exploration of texture, materials, colour. By using my fingers to paint I felt closer to the work, there was an element of primal mark making. This technique allowed me to disengage from the formality of painting with oils and allowed me a more primal, raw approach to painting. Using my skin to manipulate the paint felt freeing as sometimes the brush can be limiting in terms of mark-making.
