A digital image inspired by the vast but stunning sand dunes in the Sahara Desert. I have tried to capture my awe of the desert dwarfing us as we went camel riding. Each group of three had a leader to navigate us up and down the sand dunes. The play of light and shadow is quite magical in the desert; the shadows on the dunes allow the shapes, ripples, furrows and ridges to be seen in all their glory. I have however played with what could have been a classic desert landscape by using various coloured areas of woodgrain as overlays. Woodworking remains one of Morocco's most important traditions. The Moroccan palaces are full of stunning wooden ceilings, ornaments screens and chests and the medinas are full of objects made from cedar wood, lemon tree and ebony. I have made the camel riding group resemble inlaid wood,'marquetry' which has existed for a long time in Morocco.
