This photograph was taken on Lake Qaraoun in Egypt. A sandstorm was approaching, which reduced visibility but created a soft, golden atmosphere over the water. The stillness of the lake made the scene feel quiet and calm, even with the storm on the way.

I took this photo because I was drawn to that contrast — the muted tones, the minimalism - it was literally the calm before the storm.
