The bleaklow hare is inspired by my first encounter of the elusive Peak District mountain hare.Reintroduction attempts of the mountain hare were made in the late 1800’s, and while most were unsuccessful, against all odds those released into the hills of the Peak District survived.Sadly only 2500 of England's surviving population of mountain hare are now in an isolated population of the Peak DistrictI had never seen a brown hare before never mind a mountain hare, I came face to face with one of these beautiful creators when heading up the hillside of Bleaklow. It's a fond memory that I will treasure.
