Working primarily with locally grown flowers, I explore how different floral textures interact and merge, creating their own subtle abstractions. Using low light, I seek to enhance the mood and emotion of the creative process, while drawing attention to intricate details that fascinate the eye. I am particularly interested in revealing the gestures and character of plants, uncovering the connections we share with the natural world.
At the heart of my work is a sense of optimism—light within darkness. Whatever challenges exist beyond our doors, flowers continue to grow and flourish. To me, they embody resilience, constancy, and hope. While not everyone has access to a garden, we can bring the garden indoors. I hope my work offers a moment of rest, brings colour into your space, and encourages reflection on the things that remain good, enduring, and beautiful.
A collection of Tulips, Ranunculus, Fritillaries and Narcissi, featuring the small star shaped Daffodil 'Thalia'. Photographed in low, natural light, this composition epitomises the transition from the dark winter season to the emerging light of spring.
