Made this artwork inspired by Frank O' Hara's "Having a Coke with You" that my artist friend Shannon shared with me. Drew inspiration also from a photo that I took on Canal St last fall, when I was in USA for an artist residency at Sol LeWitt's studio.
New York City is one of my favourite city and I love to make artworks inspired by it. This guy caught my eye for his beautiful and yet sad face. His outfit is also quite distinctive and everything works beautifully against the urban backdrop of graffiti, storefront signs and fire escapes that instantly transport me to NYC. I hope this artwork will get you too this vibrant and ever surprising place, where one can find beauty at every corner.
Signed with my initials on the front and full signature at the back.
